Stealing The Cup!

It's Playoff time!

In 1962 the Montreal Canadiens were playing the Chicago Blackhawks in the playoff semifinals, in Chicago.

As defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Blackhawks had The Cup on display in the lobby of their arena.

With the series favouring Chicago, a Montreal fan went to the display case housing The Cup, grabbed it and headed for the door. He had almost made it out before being stopped by a stadium police officer.

When questioned why he had tried to commit the crime, the fan replied "I was taking the Cup back to Montreal, where it belongs."
