Known as
"America's Sweetheart" and "The Woman Who Created Hollywood",
Mary Pickford was born in Toronto, Introduced to the theatre by her mother, after the death of her father, Mary took to Toronto's Princess Theatre stage as a means of earning money for her family. Moving to New York she began acting in 'Flickers' and soon became a star of the silent movies. In 1927 Mary joined other film professionals as one of the founding members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Style:
